Toons want Carroll back
According to BBC, Newcastle are interested in Carroll.

Would you, and to what price?

Looking to get rid of Zarate? What's the poor cunt done to deserve that?

How about we keep Carroll, Zarate, Sakho AND Valencia?

You just know that as soon as one of those players fails to score in a couple of games the 'supporters' on here will be baying for blood.

The rule seems to be the answer to any selection problem is to start the player who hasn't played yet. The one Allardyce picks will be 'Championship quality, at best'.

This is a great comedy thread though, we've already had one gonk suggest that we should sell Carroll because he's always injured for twenty million quid.

My only fear with having him back is that we revert back to the BFS longball style again.

However, if we play as we have been over the past few matches it could be good. His presence up front is menacing. I'm sure many defenders hate playing against him, purely for his physical ability. No denying he has a footballing brain... Something which I think Carlton Cole is missing.

For the first time since he joined us we could have a healthy Carroll available who is definitely a very good option to have upfront.

Combined with the new arrivals he can be lethal for us, not having to rely solely on Nolan as his only companion. We've patient with him, now is the time for him to repay that patience with committment, performances and goals.

I don't wanna see another club reaping the potential benefits.

Re: Toons want Carroll back
His form 2 years ago wasn't too shabby when he was playing up front for England in the Euros.

His price then was about what you'd expect to pay for an England striker. Welbeck went for roughly the same price.

Carroll is overrated imo. A good player, yes. But his rep seems to me based on his battering ram style, price tag and form 4 years ago. He has a lot to prove if/when fit imo.

Nobody is irreplaceable, and he remains a very expensive 'option' up front. And unlike Cole or Zarate he is probably still worth something in the market. That's one reason I'd rather we sell and keep regenerating the squad.

Re: Toons want Carroll back
It's worrying some of the expectations people have of us. We've not long been promoted and we're sitting in a position where Carroll, an England international isn't even first choice.

A couple of years ago we was creaming ourselves at the possibility of just getting him on loan.

He's more than good enough for a club of our stature and it says a lot about the quality of forwards we have that we have Carroll and he isn't an automatic starter.

The club have said a fair bit about wanting to push for Europe. If that's something we achieve then to be able to compete we need the depth of having the forwards we currently do. In fact we should actually be looking to replace Cole or Zarate not Carroll.

So for me, no we would be mad to even contemplate selling him. Unless of course there is a medical issue in which case we would struggle to sell him anyway.

Ah the old chestnut again

Newcastle probably wanting him back on the cheap giving them a nice £35m profit from the time they sold him (& he's been sitting on the sidelines for most of that time)

If they pay us what we paid for him we should take the loss (his wage bill for all the time he's been injured) & move on

Its a shame really because he's a fairly unique player in this day & age but his injury record is appalling

Hairy...
Why only half wages...if they want him ...full wages plus fee...

Re: Toons want Carroll back
we should loan him back there in january, let them pay half wages or something then, if he has a good 6 months, we will either recoup our money or bring him back fit and healthy

Re: Toons want Carroll back
I'd like to see him fit for six months, but it's unlikely to happen.

He's too fragile for the robust game he plays, and is always going to break.

Before we sell him I'd like to see him fit for six months and competing for a first team place.

Re: Toons want Carroll back
I always said Carroll was a waste of 17m and if we can get 10m and get a better replacement.

He's not totally uselss though and young. I agree. He can add that plan B and be effective. In that resoect I'd be happy for him to stay....but his ihjury record is a very bad.

Mines not an opinion though it's based in factual evidence......

Not saying it couldn't ever happen as they could offer him more loads of variables...but as of NOW he wouldn't go back

Re: Toons want Carroll back
Carroll is good at bringing the ball down, shielding it and bringing others into play, not just his heading and presence in the box. Plus it's always good to be able to have different players and different approaches to games. I see no reason why Carroll couldn't play with the likes of Sakho/Valencia/Downing either side of him or supporting him.
